Text Box: Group Work Camp

Group work camp is a weeklong home-repair project involving volunteers from church youth groups recruited by Group Work Foundations. At each work camp, hundreds of teenagers and adult sponsors come to a community and spend several days repairing homes for the elderly, low-income, and disabled residents.

The purpose of the Group Work Camp is to repair 60-70 homes for those in need and create better living conditions for our neighborhoods. Providing better living conditions creates a sense of pride in were one lives. An average work camp will bring into the community over 400 volunteers which will perform more than 12,000 hours of free labor to the community.

List of work activities performed by the volunteers include:

Porch and step repairs
Wheelchair-ramp construction
Interior and exterior painting
Weatherization
Light carpentry
