The Juneteenth Festival will bring together the community in celebration of our diverse cultures and heritages. The celebration will include entertainment, competitions and fun for all age groups.

History of Juneteenth Holiday and Festival
History of JuneteenthJuneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, is an annual holiday or rather observation in 26 states of the United States. Juneteenth commemorates the anouncement of the abolition of slavery in Texas. As of February 2008, Juneteenth has been recognized as either a state holiday or state holiday observance in the states of Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Delaware, Idaho, Alaska, Iowa, California, Wyoming, Missouri, Connecticut, Illinois, Louisiana, New Jersey, New York, Colorado, Arkansas, Oregon, Kentucky, Michigan, New Mexico, Virginia, Washington, Tennessee, Massachusetts and North Carolina, as well as Washington D.C.
