Northeast Minority Business Development Center
River City Community Development Corporation's (RCCDC) "Northeast Minority Business Development Center" will assist and empower small, minority, women and other disadvantaged aspiring and existing entrepreneurs to compete in the marketplace by building their capacity and broadening the scope and presence in non-traditional industries.

This proposed project will encourage entrepreneurship opportunities for economically disadvantaged citizens in Elizabeth City/Pasquotank County and neighboring counties, in addition this will inspire and provide an opportunity in which they can actively participate in local tourism development initiatives, the arts and other non-traditional industries. By investing in the African-American community, educating in the area of financial literacy, economic and cultural initiatives will ensure that all Americans will have a fair opportunity to access living wage jobs, business, wealth and economic prosperity.

Additionally, RCCDC will provide comprehensive business development services to minorities in a more focused manner providing a wealth of educational and networking opportunities. Services will be comprehensively tailored to meet the needs of the client business. Major activities and strategies will be addressed through the following:

Educational:
Workshops - Industry specific & business planning
Newsletters & Brochures - Highlighting business development activities and accomplishments
News Releases - Announcing new business openings and opportunities for training and financing
Website & Blogs - Highlighting services and best practices for minority businesses and will be linked to other local business and economic development websities
Speakers on diversity issues.
Networking Opportunities:
Annual Meetings
Networking Receptions - Business after hours, business car exchanges and speaking engagements
Groups and Listening Forums - addressing the needs of the community
Anticipated outcomes would be that of the following:

1. Business development start-ups and expansion of existing businesses
2. Job Creation
3. Number of individuals exposed to non-traditional venues relative to tourism and the arts

The needs are great in rural Northeastern North Carolina and RCCDC would be the anchor in providing direct services as well as technical assistance to small, minoritym, women disadvantaged businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs. Our key partners will assist in the meeting the goals and objectives we have set forth. We all seek to benefit fromt the increase tax base of the local economy.

Minority Resource Directory
It is our hope that the Minority Resource Directory will serve as a living network to assist aspiring entrepreneurs, existing businesses and other members of the community in identifying and utilizing the resources and services available in the community and region. With the second edition of the directory, it is our desire to showcase the enterprising spirit and continuing achievements of the small business community.
