Getting Things Done
AmeriCorps is a network of national service programs, made up of three primary programs that each take a different approach to improving lives and fostering civic engagement. Members commit their time to address critical community needs like increasing academic achievement, mentoring youth, fighting poverty, sustaining national parks, preparing for disasters, and more.
At River City YouthBuild, AmeriCorps provides yet another opportunity to grow and flourish. As an AmeriCorps Member, YouthBuild participants are exposed to serving their community, primarily by putting the skills they learn in construction to use. Members also help with conservation and environmentalism by helping to keep the community clean and green.
By successfully completing 450 hours of service within one year, members may earn an Education Award to use for college or trade school.
AmeriCorps at YouthBuild exposes members to service by having members help address issues within the community. Members are introduced to a variety of organizations, people, and potential career opportunities, and have the opportunity to earn money for college.
